The Shona Sculpture Gallery is in Harare in Zimbabwe. All works shown on the Gallery are in Zimbabwe and will be shipped from there.
The majority of our online customers are outside the country, so you’ll want to know the additional cost of made-to-measure crating and the freight before you commit to buying a sculpture.
We place a no-obligation reserve on any artworks you express an interest in, which prevents anyone else buying them while logistics are discussed.
Shipping from Zimbabwe is expensive! Though we try to keep costs to minimum, imported goods such as plywood for crating are more expensive than in other countries. Because it is a land-locked country, sea freight quotes by necessity also include a road transport element.
However, the prices of the individual artworks are such good value, that hopefully even with the additional P&P costs they should still be more affordable than similar pieces being sold by retailers elsewhere in the world.
Shipping Quotes
If you contact us for a freight quote, please provide us with your town, country and postal/zip code and tell us which artwork(s) you are interested in.
Please also provide us with your preferred airport for air freight quotes and/or sea port for sea freight quotes.
All freight quotes include the cost of packing materials and insurance premium based on the value of the item(s) being shipped.
Airfreight
Airfreight quotes are calculated on weight, plus certain fixed charges such as for paperwork and fumigation.
This means it is more suitable for smaller crates and/or individual sculptures.
Airfreight is relatively fast, as transit times are measured in days, though we must allow for additional time for payment and paperwork before shipping, and for clearance on arrival.
Seafreight
Seafreight quotes are calculated on volume (unless a consignment is exceptionally heavy for its size, in which case they may adjust the charges), plus certain fixed charges such as for paperwork and fumigation.
This means it is more suitable for larger crates of many sculptures or a very large piece. There is a minimum charge of a cubic metre, so it makes sense to ship by sea once crated volume gets close to this size.
Seafreight is cheaper but it is relatively slow, and transit times are measured in weeks. Since we must also allow for additional time for payment and paperwork before shipping and for clearance on arrival, the total shipment time may be some months.
